The government of Uzbekistan has approved a new mechanism to support businesses in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) tourism sector, allowing entrepreneurs to reclaim 50% of the value-added tax (VAT) paid.

The measure applies to companies organizing international conferences, exhibitions, forums, business meetings, and other events that attract foreign tourists.

To receive compensation, entrepreneurs must submit an application to the Tourism Committee through the Unified National Tourism Platform no later than three months after the event concludes.

The application must include the event program, cost estimate, electronic invoices, online cash register receipts, bank payment documents, and a list of foreign participants with proof of their entry and exit from Uzbekistan. Additional documents may be requested if necessary.

The Tourism Committee will review the application within five business days. If the refunded amount changes upon revised reporting, excess funds must be returned to the budget.

Uzbekistan continues its program of partial VAT refunds for entrepreneurs in select industries. Since the beginning of 2026, enterprises in tourism, public catering, livestock, and jewelry sectors have received 96.9 billion soums in VAT refunds.
