President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed a presentation of projects and initiatives aimed at developing culture and arts, preserving national heritage, and promoting it internationally.

Among the initiatives is the creation of a branch of the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan in the Palace of Grand Duke Nikolai Romanov.

During the presentation, it was reported that the palace's historical appearance will be fully preserved during restoration. After completion, a permanent exhibition of about 300 museum items will be housed there.

The establishment of the museum branch will be part of a program to preserve and promote the country's cultural heritage sites.

The Romanov Palace has been closed for restoration since 2021. In May of this year, public controversy erupted after a closed fashion show was held on its grounds. Residents and activists criticized the use of the architectural landmark for a commercial event while it remained closed to visitors.

Later, the Culture and Arts Development Fund explained that the show took place only on the adjacent territory and did not affect the palace's interior. The agency also stated that after restoration, the site will open as a modern museum space.
