The head of the Improvement Department of Tashkent's Yakkasaray district has been fined after a video surfaced on social media showing workers laboring under the blazing sun.

Earlier, the State Labor Inspectorate had urged employers to halt outdoor mass work during the daytime and observe safety measures during the extreme heat. Employers were advised to suspend outdoor work from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. if high temperatures could endanger workers' health.

However, soon after, a video appeared on social networks showing improvement workers continuing to work under the scorching sun.

Following this, the inspectorate conducted an inspection and found violations at the Yakkasaray District Improvement Department. It turned out that employees were not provided with the necessary conditions for safe work in hot weather.

As a result of the inspection, the head of the district department was fined for violating labor and occupational safety laws. The fine ranges from 5 to 10 times the base calculation value — between 2 and 4 million soums.

The State Labor Inspectorate reiterated that employers must comply with occupational safety requirements and take measures to protect workers during extreme heat.
