In the Narpay district of Samarkand region, the illegal felling of 15 juniper trees and the subsequent death of 17 Eldar pines after unauthorized transplantation have caused nearly 192 million soum in damage to the plant world. This was reported by the Samarkand Regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change.

Following reports on social media that trees without felling permits were being destroyed in Narpay district, the department took control of the situation. A working group formed on the instructions of the regional prosecutor's office conducted an investigation on site.

The inspection revealed that, contrary to the requirements of Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 464 of August 22, 2022, several dozen ornamental trees around the 'Health Path' in the 'Nagorakhona' mahalla of Narpay district were illegally cut down at the base due to the negligence and carelessness of responsible officials.

Specifically, the damage from felling 15 juniper trees was estimated at 75.808 million soum. The damage from the death of 17 Eldar pines, which dried up after illegal transplantation, amounted to 116.184 million soum. Thus, the total damage to the plant world from 32 trees was calculated at 191.992 million soum.

According to the Department of Ecology, the collected documents have been submitted to law enforcement agencies for legal assessment.

Earlier, in the Jondor district of Bukhara region, a reed fire damaged 50 trees, 38 of which were completely destroyed. The environmental damage was estimated at 202.7 million soum.
