President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed the construction progress of key educational, cultural and sports facilities in New Tashkent. He began his visit at the New Tashkent Construction Directorate, where he studied the work progress using a large-scale model and digital map.
The head of state inspected the campus of the Nizami National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan. Finishing work is currently underway in the rectorate and faculty buildings. The complex will include academic buildings, laboratories, an electronic library, dormitories and sports facilities.
Next, the President visited the new building of the National Library of Uzbekistan, where construction and finishing work is 90% complete. The four-story building with an area of over 30,000 square meters is scheduled to be commissioned this year. The library will be able to serve 1,420 readers simultaneously.
Mirziyoyev also visited the new campus of the “New Uzbekistan” University, being built on 50 hectares and designed for 10,000 students. The complex will combine academic buildings, a museum, exhibition halls, a swimming pool and dormitories.
At the end of the trip, the President inspected the construction of a 55,000-seat football stadium, where 65% of the work has been completed. The six-story arena, being built since November 2025 according to FIFA standards, will be the main venue for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup, hosting the semi-finals and final.
The President instructed that all work be completed on schedule and in compliance with high quality standards.
