An official in Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region, Ubaydulla Ochilov, who heads the district branch of the Mahalla Association, has become embroiled in a scandal after a confrontation with a local resident.
The incident occurred on July 28. Ochilov demanded that the resident remove sand dumped on the street, and when the man began recording with his phone, the official resorted to insults and threats, telling him he was “playing with the state.”
The video quickly spread on social media, sparking public outrage. The Mahalla Association condemned the behavior, stating it completely contradicts the ethics of a civil servant, and announced a disciplinary investigation.
A working group has been established to conduct the probe, which will provide a legal assessment of the official's actions and determine appropriate measures.
