Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. The decision on the host city for the Future Games 2027 has not yet been made. Jon Hewitt, Director of International Marketing and Communications at Phygital International, spoke to Podrobno.uz about whether Uzbekistan can host the tournament and the requirements for future organizers.
According to Hewitt, applications from cities are still being accepted, and organizers are finalizing their analysis of proposals. The final selection of the host country has not been made.
Hewitt noted that each country vying to host the tournament can bring its own unique features to the competition. 'All countries that are applying to host the 2027 event are capable of organizing it at a high level. Each has its own individuality, its own flavor, and its own highlight,' the Phygital International representative stated.
Speaking about possible candidates, Hewitt did not clarify whether Uzbekistan is among the countries that have officially submitted an application. He also did not confirm information that Brazil could be the next host of the tournament.
According to him, several factors will be considered when choosing the organizer, including developed infrastructure and opportunities for the development of digital technologies.
Interest in hosting the Future Games from Uzbekistan has been shown before. In 2024, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed hosting the 2026 tournament in the country. However, the right to host the competition was ultimately awarded to Kazakhstan — the current Games are taking place in Astana.
The Future Games 2026 will last until August 9. About 800 athletes are participating in the tournament.
Earlier, it was reported that the opening ceremony of the tournament took place in Astana, combining performances by artists, music, and modern digital technologies.
