Uzbekistan has registered a new geographical indication — Khorezm rice. This will provide legal protection for the product and strengthen its market position.

Rice grown in the Khorezm region is noted for its high quality, aroma, and special culinary properties. Its uniqueness is due to natural factors of the region, including the waters of the Amu Darya, fertile soils, and favorable climate, as well as cultivation traditions passed down from generation to generation.

Registering Khorezm rice as a geographical indication means legal protection of the name. This will prevent illegal use of the brand, guarantee product authenticity, and preserve its quality.

The decision is expected to help develop the region's agricultural potential and promote the national brand in domestic and foreign markets.

Previously, Kokand halva received the same status.
