In the Marhamat district of Andijan region, the head of a banking services center and a machinist from the Norin-Karadarya irrigation systems basin administration are suspected of promising to legalize a land plot from the state reserve and demanding $39,000 for their services. This was reported by the State Security Service (SSS).

According to the report, the two allegedly conspired and gained the trust of a 37-year-old citizen. They claimed to have documents for a 24-acre plot of land in the reserve of the Marhamat district administration, supposedly classifying it as residential property. They also allegedly demanded $39,000 through influential acquaintances to formalize the land in the citizen's name in the future.

During a joint operation by the SSS, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, and internal affairs officers, the machinist was apprehended red-handed while receiving $25,000.

A criminal case has been initiated against the suspects, and investigative actions are underway.

The SSS urged citizens to report such violations by calling the short number 1520, assuring that the identity of applicants will be kept confidential.

Earlier, two officials were detained in Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions on suspicion of taking bribes for land registration.
