In the Markhamat district of the Andijan region, law enforcement officers thwarted an attempt to conduct an illegal transaction involving a state-owned land plot. According to investigators, two men promised to register the land in the buyer's name for a substantial fee.

The suspects include a head of a banking service center and a machinist from the Norin-Karadarya irrigation systems administration. They convinced a 37-year-old local resident that they could arrange a 24-acre plot, allegedly already transferred from the state reserve for residential construction.

For their services, they demanded $39,000, citing connections and the ability to resolve the issue through 'the right people.'

The arrest occurred during the transfer of part of the money. The machinist was caught red-handed while receiving $25,000. The operation was carried out by the State Security Service, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, and internal affairs bodies.

A criminal case has been opened, and the investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement is determining all details and possible participants in the scheme.

Earlier, a similar case occurred in Kuva, Fergana region. Two local residents promised a man to obtain land for house construction, prepared a fake cadastral package, and demanded $5,000 for their services.
