Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. On Wednesday, August 5, STAR.VISION will launch the hyperspectral satellites Samarkand-2028 and Lampung-1 from a sea launch platform off the coast of China's Shandong province.

The agency emphasized that the Samarkand-2028 mission represents a significant step in showcasing Uzbekistan's potential in space technology and artificial intelligence on the international stage. The satellite is a practical outcome of strategic cooperation under a memorandum signed between the Uzbekcosmos agency and STAR.VISION.

The name Samarkand-2028 was chosen in honor of the decision to hold the International Astronautical Congress in Samarkand in 2028, adopted at the congress in Sydney, Australia.

As part of the project, specialists from the Uzbekcosmos agency developed a special artificial intelligence module for the satellite's onboard system. It will enable hyperspectral data processing directly in orbit, significantly enhancing the efficiency of Earth remote sensing. The data is planned to be used in agriculture, ecology, natural resource monitoring, and other fields.

Currently, the rocket has been placed on board the launch vessel and is heading to the launch site. All preparatory work continues according to the approved schedule.
