On July 7, the criminal court of Markhamat district in Andijan region considered the case of 40-year-old citizen F.U., who fought on the Russian side in the Russia-Ukraine war. According to court documents, on August 26, 2025, he signed a contract with the Russian Armed Forces for military service in exchange for payment.
Subsequently, F.U. underwent combat training at a military training ground in Kursk region, including instruction in weapons handling and operating combat drones. He later participated in hostilities as part of Russian forces with an AK-74 assault rifle during the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
In court, F.U. fully confessed to his guilt. He stated that he went to Russia in January 2025 to work as a taxi driver. According to him, one day a passenger he was carrying was detained for drug use, and he was also taken in as a suspect, held in a detention center until August 26, 2025.
F.U. claimed that during the investigation he signed several documents, later realizing they were a contract to participate in the war with the Russian Armed Forces. He was sent to a military unit in Vladivostok, then to a training ground in the DPR territory. He mainly served in a supply group, collecting downed drones on the front lines.
The defendant said he was seriously wounded in his left knee during a drone attack while collecting drones. He was treated in a military hospital in Donetsk for a month and a half, then in Vladivostok. On April 1, 2026, he was granted a one-month leave, after which he decided to return to Uzbekistan.
F.U. stated he has three minor children, one of whom has been disabled since childhood, and asked the court for a sentence not involving imprisonment. The court took into account his full confession, sincere remorse, lack of prior convictions, and family circumstances as mitigating factors, applying Article 57 of the Criminal Code.
As a result, F.U. was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 154 (Mercenarism) and sentenced to 2 years of correctional labor with 20% of his salary deducted to the state. The sentence will be served at a workplace designated by the probation service.
