Uzbekistan is set to simplify the process of obtaining transport benefits for 11 categories of citizens. Free and discounted tickets for flights, trains, and intercity buses will now be available without paper vouchers, and in the future, through a mobile application. This was reported by Podrobno.uz.

The new procedure entails a complete abandonment of paper vouchers. Eligibility for discounted travel can be confirmed using an ID card or biometric passport, with the system automatically verifying data through the 'Unified National Social Protection' platform. This will speed up the process and eliminate bureaucratic hurdles.

The innovation is expected to make travel more accessible and stimulate domestic tourism. Residents will be able to visit historical cities and tourist destinations such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Shakhrisabz, Termez, the Fergana Valley, as well as mountain and resort areas more frequently. This is anticipated to have a positive impact on the local economy.

The next phase involves launching online purchase of discounted tickets through the Baraka mobile application, scheduled for 2027. This will make booking trips faster and more convenient, while also expanding the use of digital services.

The authorities hope that digitalization will support the development of domestic tourism, make travel across the country more affordable, and bolster the 'Travel around Uzbekistan!' program. It is worth recalling that since July 22, the high-speed train 'Jaloliddin Manguberdi' has been operating with a second train on the Tashkent – Khiva – Tashkent route.
