A woman in the Fergana region of Uzbekistan has single-handedly turned her home's courtyard into a shelter for stray animals. Dozens of dogs that have been abandoned by their owners now find refuge there.

The story was shared by the press service of the Regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change, timed to coincide with International Homeless Animals Day, observed on August 6.

Currently, the private shelter in Fergana houses about 90 dogs. The animals receive necessary care and food. Every day, up to 25 kilograms of meat and other feed are used to feed them.

Additionally, veterinarians monitor the animals' health: they undergo regular check-ups, receive vaccinations, and measures are taken to prevent uncontrolled breeding.

It is worth recalling that the authorities in Tashkent have begun work on creating a specialized shelter and a humane system for handling stray dogs.
