According to the State Statistics Committee, consumer prices in Uzbekistan decreased by 0.1% in July. For comparison, deflation in July of the previous year was 0.2%.
Annual inflation remained at 6.4%, significantly lower than the 8.9% recorded in July 2025. Since the beginning of the year, prices have increased by 3.2%, compared to 4% in the same period last year.
Food products became cheaper by 0.9% over the month, but rose by 6.4% year-on-year. Non-food products increased by 0.3% monthly and 6% annually. Services rose by 0.5% monthly and 6.6% annually.
Among staple foods, rice and rice groats rose by 5.9% in a month, but were 6.3% cheaper year-on-year. Eggs fell by 5% monthly, but remain 15% more expensive annually. Beef with bone decreased by 0.1% monthly, but rose by 16% year-on-year.
Seasonal supply of vegetables and fruits continued to curb inflation. Over the month, prices for cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, and other products declined. Carrots, however, rose by 12.6% monthly, but were still 13.3% cheaper annually. Onions increased by 1.7% monthly, but fell by 16.5% year-on-year.
Fuel prices rose significantly: gasoline increased by an average of 4.8% monthly and 21.7% annually. Propane rose by 1.7% monthly and 34.6% annually. Methane increased by 0.3% and 10.3%, respectively.
Transport services also saw changes. In Tashkent region, city bus fares rose by an average of 15%, leading to a 1.4% monthly and 10.6% annual increase in this service nationwide. Intercity bus transportation rose by 0.6% monthly and 6.8% annually.
International airfares increased by 0.2% monthly, but are still 9.4% cheaper annually. Domestic flights decreased by 0.9% monthly and 7.4% annually, which the committee attributes to the strengthening of the som against the euro.
Long-distance train tickets rose by an average of 0.4% monthly and 11.8% annually. Increases on some international routes were partially offset by a decline in the Swiss franc exchange rate against the som.
From July, new tariffs for waste collection came into effect in Fergana region. Nationwide, this service rose by 2.7% monthly and 25.6% annually. In Navoi region, fees for servicing multi-apartment buildings were raised, leading to a 0.6% monthly and 3.2% annual increase in such payments across the country.
Among major expenditure items, information and communication services saw the highest monthly increase at 1.1%, followed by transport at 0.8%, and alcohol and tobacco at 0.7%. Annually, the most significant growth was in insurance and financial services (43.6%), housing and utilities and fuel (12.2%), restaurants and hotels (7.6%), and household and other services (7.2%).
Regionally, inflation in July was recorded only in Fergana region (0.1%). In Tashkent city, prices remained unchanged. In Kashkadarya region, prices fell by 0.3%, while most other regions saw deflation of 0.2%, and Tashkent region 0.1%.
On an annual basis, the highest price growth was in Tashkent city at 6.9%. Andijan and Fergana regions recorded inflation of 6.7%, while Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, and Khorezm regions saw 6.6%. The lowest annual rate was in Syrdarya region at 5.4%, and Surkhandarya region saw prices rise by 5.9%.
