In the Karakul district of the Bukhara region, law enforcement officers detained a man who promised to secure a place for an applicant directly in the fourth year of the medical program at the Bukhara Innovative University of Education and Medicine for 26 million soums (about $2,100).

According to the Department under the General Prosecutor's Office, the suspect gained the victim's trust and claimed he could produce fake documents showing studies from the first to the third year at a university in Kazakhstan. Based on these, he said, it would be possible to arrange a transfer directly to the fourth year of the Uzbek university.

The man was arrested while receiving the 26 million soums. The money was seized as material evidence.

A criminal case has been opened on charges of attempted fraud and incitement to bribery. Investigative actions are underway.

Earlier, in the Samarkand and Khorezm regions, doctors were detained who, for money, promised to help with disability registration. Criminal cases were opened in both cases for fraud and bribery-related crimes.
