As part of preparations for the autumn-winter season, problematic transformers classified under the “red” category are planned to be repaired by September 1. This was announced on August 6 by the chairman of the board of “Regional Electric Networks” Sardor Isakulov following a presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to him, over the past 10 years, investments in the energy sector have made it possible to increase electricity generation capacities and develop main electrical networks. However, today at the lowest level — regional electric networks — disruptions and shortcomings are causing justified complaints from entrepreneurs and the population.
The president, using the example of the Yangiyul district (where a special headquarters was established under the leadership of Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjayev), outlined in detail the main directions of work to improve distribution electric networks. Particular attention is paid to reducing electricity losses and strengthening the personnel potential of the sector.
“Today, districts have been selected where power outages cause justified complaints from the population and entrepreneurs, as well as high accounts receivable. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Energy, responsible executives have been assigned to each region,” said the company head.
He emphasized that the assigned executives must organize work to prepare electric networks for the autumn-winter season, as well as take necessary measures to prevent power supply disruptions. According to the president’s instructions, work has already begun. Currently, the technical condition of transformers and electric networks is being studied and analyzed in the regions.
“First of all, special attention is paid to transformers classified under the ‘red’ category. They must be repaired before the start of the autumn-winter season, that is, before September 1, and fully prepared for the season,” said Sardor Isakulov.
He also said that the president gave separate instructions to energy enterprises and defined the upcoming autumn-winter season as a test period for the power supply system. “The autumn-winter season is defined as a test season in terms of stably supplying electricity to every entrepreneur and the population. Therefore, our responsibility doubles this season. We will organize our work based on this requirement,” said the chairman of the board of “Regional Electric Networks”.
At a meeting on July 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized the management system of the energy sector. He noted that despite allocating 30 trillion soums to modernize electric networks, substations, and equipment in recent years, accidents and prolonged power outages persist. In six months, losses in electric networks reached 17.2%, or 4.8 billion kWh. It was also noted that 300,000 gas and 234,000 electric meters do not transmit data to automated systems.
Following the meeting, the leadership of the Ministry of Energy and “Regional Electric Networks” changed. Also, a probationary period was set for several heads of large energy companies until the end of the year. In the Yangiyul district, a pilot system will be introduced aimed at targeted work in the context of each mahalla, transformer, and gas distribution point. Later, it is planned to scale this experience across the country.
