"We need a site that provides news for people," he and Suren Sapov discussed over lunch, and within a week the project was launched. At the time, official media did not provide the necessary information, and the audience of the few online publications did not exceed two to four hundred people.
The editorial team has always prioritized readers. When preparing any material, they ask: "Will this be interesting and important for readers?", "Is it worth their time?" This approach has helped maintain the trust of their audience.
Over 18 years, Uzbekistan has undergone significant changes. Reforms, achievements, crises, and tragedies have all been reflected on the pages of Gazeta. The publication's name was inspired by readers' habitual reference to it as "Gazeta."
Gazeta's experience has become a model for dozens of new online media. Starting with news, reports, and interviews, the team gradually expanded to analytical articles and documentary films. The development of social networks continues to drive the introduction of new formats.
The emergence of many independent publications, including Gazeta, reduced demand for previously blocked foreign and local media. With the new president's policy of openness, access was fully restored. In fair competition, readers decide what to read.
