In Samarkand, Uzbekistan, doctors have managed to save the life of a 23-year-old resident of Akdarya district who suffered severe burns in a propane explosion. The young man had over 90% of his body surface burned, with 40% being deep burns.

The patient was initially taken to the Akdarya district hospital and then transferred to the regional branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Aid. Specialists in the burn unit immediately began intensive treatment.

According to the head of the combustiology department, Doctor of Medical Sciences Erkin Khakimov, the patient's condition remained critical. Due to deep burns, treatment was extremely difficult.

On the eighth day, he developed acute renal and hepatic failure, as well as toxic encephalopathy, hepatitis, and nephritis. Doctors carried out comprehensive treatment and fought against the complications.

Over 30 days, the young man underwent four surgeries. Now his condition has significantly improved.

Doctors note that not only modern treatment methods and accumulated experience helped save the patient. According to them, the young man's physical fitness and character played a big role: he regularly exercised and showed strong will in the fight for life.

Additionally, Samarkand combustiologists have recently undergone internships in China, Russia, Belarus, and other countries. The knowledge gained, as doctors note, also helps them cope with such severe cases.

Earlier, Samarkand medics managed to save the life of a 50-year-old construction worker who suffered multiple injuries after falling from the roof of a two-story building. Doctors diagnosed the man with serious internal injuries, a broken arm, and a brain injury.
