The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has set a new exchange rate for foreign currencies against the Uzbek som, effective August 18.

The US dollar rate fell by 33.83 som to 11,857.35 som, marking the lowest level in three years. This is the first time since August 8, 2023, when the dollar was valued at 11,675.01 som, that the official rate has dipped below the current figure.

In commercial banks, the dollar buying rate ranges from 11,800 to 11,885 som, while the selling rate is between 11,400 and 11,900 som.

The som's appreciation reflects ongoing economic adjustments and could impact trade and remittances, though analysts suggest the move aligns with regional currency trends.
