The average passing score for applicants recommended for state-funded grants at Uzbekistan's higher education institutions has reached 134.6 points, while those admitted on a contract basis averaged 93.7 points, according to the results of this year's entrance exams.

Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Sardor Rajabov announced the figures at a press conference in Tashkent on August 18, as reported by Daryo.

Compared to the previous academic year, the passing scores have increased significantly. Last year, the average score for grant admission was 121.8, and for contract admission — 84.9 points. Thus, over the year, they rose by 12.8 and 8.8 points, respectively. The ministry attributes the increase to heightened competition among applicants.

Amid the higher competition, 209,100 applicants were recommended for admission to bachelor's degree programs this year. Of these, 52,800 received state-funded grant places, while another 156,300 were admitted on a contract basis.

Additionally, 20,500 applicants were recommended for admission under special parameters designed for preferential categories.

Earlier, state universities in Uzbekistan began publishing tuition fees for differentiated contracts for the 2026/2027 academic year. At Termez State University, prices reach up to 90 million soums depending on the field of study, while Namangan State Pedagogical Institute decided to maintain last year's rates.
