The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan has officially set the start dates for the academic year 2026/2027 in higher education institutions, academic lyceums, and technical schools. The decision aims to streamline the educational process across the country.

According to the ministry, classes in academic lyceums and technical schools will commence on September 2. This date nearly coincides with the start of the school year in general education institutions, providing convenience for students and parents.

In higher education institutions, the academic process will be launched in stages. The ministry specified that concrete dates have been assigned for different phases, allowing students and faculty to adapt smoothly.

Additionally, this year, 209,000 young people have been recommended for admission to universities. Of these, 52,800 will study on state grants, while 156,300 will enroll on a fee-based contract. These figures highlight the high demand for higher education in the country.

However, 37.5 percent of applicants failed to achieve the minimum passing score of 56.7 points. This means that many young individuals were left without the opportunity to enter higher education, exposing existing challenges within the educational system.
