Schools in Uzbekistan are expected to be equipped with 1,350 computer class sets and electronic boards by the end of October. This was announced on August 25 by the Minister of Preschool and School Education, E'zozxon Karimova, at a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
The issue was raised during discussions on the implementation of the state program under the 'Uzbekistan — 2030' strategy for the first half of 2026. Deputy Zuhriddin Mavlonov noted that by the end of the year, it was planned to create 1,000 new computer classes and purchase 6,300 electronic boards.
According to him, a total of 350 billion soums has been allocated from the budget for these purposes. Of this, 100 billion soums is intended for electronic boards, and 250 billion soums for the creation of computer classes.
'The report states that during the past period, not a single new computer class was created, and not a single new electronic board was purchased. There is only information about the announcement of a tender,' said the deputy.
He reminded that about a week remains before the start of the new academic year. 'Why have electronic boards not yet been installed and computer classes not created in our schools? Funds have been allocated, responsible persons have been appointed, and deadlines exist. But so far, no work has been done,' Mavlonov said.
The deputy also asked whether the ministry would manage to complete the task of creating 1,000 computer classes and delivering more than 6,000 electronic boards by the end of the year.
Responding to the deputy's question, Minister E'zozxon Karimova stated that 250 billion soums had been allocated from the state budget to equip 1,000 computer classes in schools in 2026. 'Based on preliminary expert conclusions, it was determined that this amount would purchase equipment for 1,350 computer classes, not 1,000,' said the minister.
According to her, preliminary expert opinions have been received, and tenders have been announced. After that, state procurement will be carried out. An additional 100 billion soums has been allocated to provide schools with electronic boards. The tender for their purchase was announced on July 12. However, since it was impossible to determine the winner, the ministry announced a repeated tender on August 10.
'The process of determining winners is scheduled for August 26. After the winners are determined, all purchases will be made. By the end of October, all planned computer class equipment and electronic boards will be fully delivered to our schools. We will achieve the indicator set in the state program, that is, we will fully complete the task,' Karimova said.
As of May 1, 2026, 69% of schools have no Wi-Fi zones at all. 5,000 computer classes are morally outdated, and 2,000 schools do not have such classes. In this regard, the president instructed to update 16,000 computer classes by 2030, provide schools with free Wi-Fi zones, and increase internet speed.
