On August 28, the Judo Grand Slam tournament commenced in Lausanne, Switzerland. Uzbekistan is represented by 21 athletes – 10 men and 11 women – ready to compete on the world stage.

The tournament runs until August 30, featuring over 500 judokas from 77 countries, ensuring fierce competition and high-level judo.

On the first day, Samariuddin Kuchkorov and Bahrom Baturov competed in the under-60 kg category, while Abdurahim Nutfulloyev and Azizbek Ortikov took to the mat in the under-66 kg division.

Among women, Laziza Haydarova and Ulbusin Khakimova are vying for medals in the under-48 kg category, and Sita Kadamboeva and Sodiyona Rafkatova in the under-52 kg category.

In the following days, other team members will compete in various weight classes, including Muzaffarbek Turaboev, Ernazar Sarsenbaev, Umida Nigmatova, and Iriskhon Kurbonboeva.

Earlier, Uzbekistan's judokas secured one gold and three bronze medals on the first day of the Junior World Championships in Ecuador, highlighting the nation's growing prowess in judo.
