Uzbekistan has significantly increased the production of medicines and other pharmaceutical products. In January-July 2026, the country's enterprises manufactured basic pharmaceutical products and preparations worth 3.5 trillion soums — 20.7% more than in the same period last year. This growth reflects ongoing investments and expansion of production capacities in the sector.

According to the National Committee on Statistics, almost two-thirds of the country's total pharmaceutical output over the seven months came from Tashkent: the capital produced goods worth 2.1 trillion soums. This underscores Tashkent's leading role in the pharmaceutical industry.

In Syrdarya region, output reached 529 billion soums, in Tashkent region — 286.4 billion soums, in Namangan region — 214.2 billion soums. Samarkand region produced 143.1 billion soums, Andijan region — 83.6 billion soums, and Fergana region — 63.5 billion soums. These regions contribute significantly to the overall production volume.

In Surkhandarya region, output amounted to 53.7 billion soums, in Khorezm region — 20.6 billion soums, in Kashkadarya region — 17.4 billion soums. Bukhara region produced pharmaceutical products worth 9.4 billion soums, and Karakalpakstan — 3.5 billion soums. The lowest volumes were recorded in Navoi and Jizzakh regions — 0.2 and 0.1 billion soums, respectively. This indicates uneven development of the industry across regions.

Recall that in the second quarter of 2026, the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection identified hundreds of cases of inflated drug prices. Consumers had the cost of their purchases recalculated by 1.9 billion soums. These facts highlight the need for stricter price controls in the pharmaceutical market.
