Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Baxtiyor Saidov on September 10 accepted credentials from the newly appointed ambassadors of Sweden and Belgium to the country. The minister announced this on his Telegram channel.

Martin Rosen has been appointed as Sweden's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, succeeding Tomas Danestad, who served in this role from 2022 to 2026. Saidov noted that Uzbekistan–Sweden relations have become significantly more active in recent years. During the meeting, the importance of expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as encouraging direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries, was emphasized. "Wishing the ambassadors success in their new mission, we expressed our readiness to work together to bring our mutual relations to a new level," the minister said.

Belgium's newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, Mathias Kende, also presented copies of his credentials. He replaces Erik de Mayer, who was previously accredited as Belgium's ambassador in Tashkent. "During the conversation, it was noted that the establishment of the Belgian embassy's activities in Tashkent is an important event in relations between the two countries," Baxtiyor Saidov wrote.

The meeting focused particularly on further strengthening political dialogue between the states and expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation. A readiness was also expressed to develop Uzbekistan–Belgium ties both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union. "We wish the ambassador great success in his responsible and honorable activities in Uzbekistan," the head of the Foreign Ministry said.

For reference, diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Sweden were established on April 8, 1992, and between Uzbekistan and Belgium on March 16, 1992.
