Tashkent, Uzbekistan – AN Podrobno.uz. In August, 37,798 cars were sold in Uzbekistan — 20.4% more than in July, but 17.2% less than in the same month last year. For January–August, passenger car sales almost reached 250,000 units, which is 5.9% lower than in the same period of 2025.
According to the Uzbekistan Automobile Business Association, Chevrolet remained the market leader in August with about 28,000 sales. It was followed by BYD with over 4,000 cars, Kia with 2,700, HAVAL with 878, and CHERY with 732. Sales of Nevo and Geely brands also grew, reaching 210 and 201 cars, respectively.
The best-selling model of the month was the Chevrolet Cobalt. In August, buyers purchased more than 12,000 such cars, compared to less than 6,000 in July. Thus, sales of the model more than doubled in a month, and its share of the total market reached 32.3%.
Demand for cars of different classes is changing unevenly. Sales of cars in segments A and B, as well as larger E/F cars, minivans, and light commercial vehicles, declined compared to last year.
At the same time, buyers are increasingly choosing crossovers and larger cars. Sales growth was recorded in the SUV-E, SUV-D, and SUV-C segments, as well as among C-class sedans. The most notable dynamics were shown by premium SUVs, whose sales nearly tripled.
The August sales growth is happening against the backdrop of increased domestic car production. According to the National Statistics Committee, in January–July, Uzbekistan produced 263,700 passenger cars — 9.4% more than in the same period of 2025. This includes 185,800 cars by UzAuto Motors, 27,700 by ADM Jizzakh, and 17,800 by BYD.
Earlier in July, the Uzbek car market generally maintained its activity level: almost 80,000 cars were sold. Sales of new cars and electric vehicles grew most noticeably, with demand for the latter increasing by 10.8% over the month.
