The Tashkent Metro carried 1,165,550 passengers on Monday, September 14, setting a new daily record. The previous high was recorded on May 8, when 1,117,061 people used the subway. Metro officials plan to reward the milestone passenger.

The increase in passenger traffic is attributed in part to the start of the new academic year at all universities across the country. Experts expect the trend to continue, with daily passenger numbers potentially reaching 1.2 million in October.

The 1,200,000th passenger will be awarded a special privilege or gift in the capital's subway. The initiative is seen as a symbolic incentive.

In addition, all 14 modern trainsets planned for purchase in 2026 have already been delivered to the depot. Metro officials note that train schedules are being adjusted based on actual passenger flow.

Earlier it was reported that on the morning of September 14, the Tashkent Metro carried nearly 290,000 passengers in five hours. Due to the start of the academic year, intervals between trains during peak hours were reduced.
