Tashkent, Uzbekistan – AN Podrobno.uz. Uzbekistan has proposed a gradual increase in the retirement age from the current 60 to 63 for men and from 55 to 58 for women. The draft by the Ministry of Economy and Finance has been put forward for public discussion.

The age increase is proposed to start gradually in 2028, by three months each year. Thus, the transition to the new retirement age is planned to be completed by 2039. Currently, this is only a draft, and no final decision has been made. Public discussion will last until September 30.

At the same time, a number of guarantees for citizens of pre-retirement age are proposed to be preserved. In particular, age should not become a reason for refusal of employment or dismissal. Unemployed citizens, under certain conditions, will be able to retire two years earlier than the established period.

It is also proposed to preserve existing tax, transport, and medical benefits from the current retirement age – from 60 for men and 55 for women. From the same age, citizens are planned to be granted the right to receive funds from the funded pension system. At the same time, the minimum length of service required for pension assignment is proposed to be gradually increased from the current seven to 15 years by 2034.

Separate benefits are envisaged for those employed full-time in underground work, as well as in jobs with harmful and heavy working conditions. For men, the corresponding age is proposed to be maintained at 50–55 years, for women – 45–50 years.

Another support measure will be reduced working hours for older employees. From January 1, 2027, it is proposed to establish this for women over 55 and men over 60, while maintaining average earnings.

Earlier it was reported that the number of citizens retiring without full work experience is growing in Uzbekistan. For a full pension, men require at least 25 years of service, women – 20 years.
