️ Uzbekistan’s Khorezm region is set to attract $100 million in direct foreign investment for a project that will generate electricity from solid municipal waste. The initiative, to be implemented in 2026–2028, involves South Korean company Green Hammer.

️ According to a presidential decree, the plant will process about 800 tons of waste per day using thermal treatment and produce up to 71 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. A 15-hectare plot in the “Yangi Organbok” mahalla of Urgench district has been allocated for construction.

️ Once operational, Green Hammer will sell the generated electricity to “Uzenergosotish” under a guaranteed 30-year contract. The Waste Management Agency, in turn, is obligated to supply the plant with the required volume of solid municipal waste for the same period.

️ During construction, the project company must provide a $7 million bank guarantee. The investor will also build the necessary power transmission lines and other infrastructure to connect the station to the national grid.

️ Earlier reports indicated that Uzbekistan will implement six waste-to-energy projects with a total value of $933 million. Once launched, these facilities will be able to process 3.6 million tons of waste annually and generate 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
