During his visit to South Korea, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with compatriots working and studying there. At the meeting, the head of state announced the introduction of a new three-year program for compatriots. The program is primarily aimed at vocational training for young people, opening new opportunities for them, and effectively mastering Korean experience.
The president emphasized that Korea is an important partner for Uzbekistan and noted the need to elevate cooperation in education and personnel training to a new level. “We will create a new three-year program for bringing our children to work in Korea and educating them,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. According to him, the program will focus on vocational training for young people, ensuring employment, and mastering Korean experience.
In addition, the president announced that instructions are being given to strengthen vocational guidance in higher education institutions. He tasked university rectors in the republic with teaching students professions after classes. “Until three o’clock you teach your lessons, after three you teach our children a profession. A person with a profession will never be humiliated,” he said.
A new opportunity will also be created for young people studying in Korea who are not fully satisfied with their current studies. Within a month, representatives of the “El-yurt umidi” Foundation under the president will travel to Korea and meet with compatriots. Deserving candidates will be awarded a Presidential scholarship to study a new profession for 6 months at the best universities in Korea, and tuition costs will be fully covered. “I want to pay for both the scholarship and tuition at the best Korean university for six months to teach a new profession based on Korean experience,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This experience is planned to be applied in other countries as well.
At the meeting, special attention was paid to the achievements of young people and issues of national pride. Noting the importance of being proud of the scientific discoveries of great ancestors, the president stressed that the achievements of modern Uzbek youth in sports, chess, science, and other fields should demonstrate the country’s new image. He cited chess player Javokhir Sindarov and the successes of young footballers as examples. “We will strive to show the world new children of Uzbekistan, like Javokhir Sindarov, our footballers, our chess players,” the president said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to compatriots working and studying in Korea for their contribution to the country’s socio-economic development. “You are children who serve as an example to others with your culture, knowledge, and aspirations,” said the head of state. At the end of the meeting, the president stated that compatriots’ proposals would be studied and relevant decisions would be made based on them.
