On September 16, social media circulated footage of a road accident in Zangiota district, showing a car striking a woman and a child who were crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. The incident sparked significant public concern.
According to the Regional Road Safety Department (UБДД), the accident occurred on September 15 at around 07:30 on the central street in the "Obod" mahalla, opposite school No. 39. A 36-year-old driver of a Cherry car hit two pedestrians — a 40-year-old woman and a seven-year-old child — who were crossing at the pedestrian crossing.
The victims received first aid. After their health improved, they were discharged from the hospital. Currently, the Zangiota district internal affairs department is conducting an investigation into the accident.
The Road Safety Department urged drivers to follow traffic rules and be attentive when approaching pedestrian crossings. This incident once again highlights the importance of ensuring road safety in the country.
