A video has circulated on social media showing a teacher repeatedly striking a child in the face during a lesson. The incident occurred in the Namangan region of Uzbekistan, and the regional department of preschool and school education has launched an official investigation.

According to preliminary reports, the incident took place on September 16 at around 10:30 during the third lesson in the 1st "B" grade of School No. 39 in the Kasansay district. The teacher allegedly resorted to physical force after the child failed to read a task from a book. The episode reportedly unfolded in front of other pupils.

A working group has been formed to establish all circumstances of the incident. A service investigation is currently underway, during which a legal assessment will be given to both the incident and the actions of responsible officials. Based on the results, appropriate measures may be taken against the school administration and the teacher in accordance with the established legal procedure.

The regional department emphasized the need to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of students in educational institutions, to respect their honor and dignity, and to prevent any forms of violence. This case comes amid heightened accountability for teachers regarding violence against children.

In Uzbekistan, physical or psychological violence against minors carries fines ranging from 1 to 5 basic calculation units, and educators held administratively liable are barred from working with children for one year. These measures are aimed at protecting children and preventing violence in schools.
