During his trip to Karakalpakstan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the ADM Agro intensive orchard in the Kegeyli district. The project, worth 55 billion soums, spans 330 hectares and is designed to grow fruit crops in the saline soils of the Aral Sea region. It has created 300 jobs.
Currently, 250,000 saplings of American-bred black plum, resistant to salinity, have been planted on 69 hectares. The variety begins to bear fruit after two years, with yields reaching 50–60 kg per tree. High-yield tomatoes are also grown between the rows.
To save water, closed drainage and drip irrigation have been introduced. According to the presidential press service, water consumption has been reduced from 12,000 to 5,000 liters per hectare — by up to 60%.
The enterprise also has equipment for drying and processing fruit. Agreements have already been signed to export products to China, South Korea, and Russia.
After that, the head of state reviewed the activities of the «Kegeyli baraka naslli parranda» poultry complex in the Kegeyli district. The project cost is $7.8 million. The facility occupies 21 hectares, is designed to simultaneously keep up to 200,000 chickens, and has provided permanent employment for 70 local residents.
Currently, the complex houses 130,000 chickens and produces 27.5 million incubation eggs annually, which are then sold as chickens and day-old chicks. To feed the poultry, a fully automated feed mill with a capacity of 100 tons of compound feed per day has been built.
Previously, poultry meat and eggs were supplied to Karakalpakstan from other regions of the country. Now the enterprise meets the needs of the Aral Sea region and exports products abroad. By September, products worth $1.1 million had been supplied to Afghanistan, and by the end of the year, export volume is planned to reach $1.5 million.
By the end of the year, another poultry farm worth $5 million is planned to be launched in Kegeyli. The President instructed to develop such enterprises into large poultry holdings and create new highly paid jobs on their basis.
