Tashkent, Uzbekistan – AN Podrobno.uz. The exchange price of liquefied gas (propane) in Uzbekistan surged by 60.6% in a single day, reaching 11.9 million soums per ton. In one trading day, the cost per ton increased by approximately 4.5 million soums.

According to data from the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, on September 17, the average price of propane was 11 million 904.9 thousand soums per ton. The trading volume that day amounted to 914 tons.

The increase occurred against the backdrop of changes to the rules governing the liquefied gas market. A presidential decree dated September 12 established that liquefied gas produced and imported in Uzbekistan must be sold through exchange trading, except for volumes sold at own stations. Simultaneously, the previously existing cap on the exchange price growth relative to the listing price was abolished.

The document also envisages the phased introduction of market mechanisms in the supply of liquefied gas to the population and the creation of the company LPG-Trade. At the same time, the priority of gas supplies to the population must be maintained.

Recall that in March, the Committee for the Development of Competition conducted an investigation into major propane importers. Based on the results, 31 business entities were found guilty of unjustified price increases and anti-competitive actions, and the total amount of fines amounted to 28.9 billion soums.
