Starting January 1, 2027, doctors working in the Bozatau and Takhtakupyr districts of Karakalpakstan will receive salary bonuses of up to 200%. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this at a meeting on the socio-economic development of Karakalpakstan. According to him, the increased payments should serve as an additional incentive for doctors to work in remote areas of the region.
Meanwhile, Karakalpakstan continues to expand access to complex medical care. The central hospital in Nukus performs liver and kidney transplants, while the Aral Sea Children's Hospital provides 150 types of high-tech care. Since the beginning of the year alone, 1,500 complex operations have been performed in the region, including brain and heart surgery, as well as plastic surgery.
Karakalpakstan has also introduced a health insurance mechanism, and medical institutions have received $10 million worth of equipment. In addition, a medical scientific academy has been created in Nukus on the basis of public-private partnership. It will become a methodological center for assessing knowledge and improving the qualifications of medical workers.
In the future, the medical academy, children's clinic, oncology center, and a new multidisciplinary hospital are planned to be merged into a single system – a University Medical Cluster. Earlier it was reported that a new medical center worth 154 billion soums opened in Karakalpakstan.
