Uzbekistan's Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection has called on medical entrepreneurs to strictly comply with advertising legislation. The agency's press service reported this.

According to the committee, recently medical service advertisements have frequently used exaggerated phrases such as "we will cure you forever", "absolutely safe", "we treat in three days", "no side effects at all", and "all patients recover". Such claims can mislead consumers and create false hopes.

It is noted that using these phrases may violate current legislation. Under Article 16 of the Law "On Advertising", unfair (ambiguous, misleading, exaggerated, or concealed) advertising that misleads or could mislead consumers due to violations of requirements regarding time, place, and method of distribution, as well as other legal requirements, is prohibited.

The agency reminded that this entails a fine of 70 basic calculation units (30 million 800 thousand soums). Furthermore, according to Article 7 of the Law "On Protection of Consumer Rights", damage caused to a consumer as a result of purchasing a product (work, service) due to false advertising (information) must be fully compensated by the manufacturer (executor, seller).

The Competition Committee urged entrepreneurs to bring their advertising into line with current legal requirements and refrain from providing false and misleading information to consumers. This will help ensure fair competition in the medical services market and protect citizens' rights.
