An assistant prosecutor in the Oqqo‘rg‘on district of Tashkent region has been detained on suspicion of demanding a bribe from a citizen, according to the State Security Service.

The official allegedly demanded $12,000 to resolve a car purchase issue and to facilitate the allocation of a preferential loan worth 600 million soums.

During a sting operation, he was caught red-handed while receiving $4,700 of the demanded sum, with material evidence seized. Investigators also found that he had previously received $1,300 from the same citizen.

Criminal proceedings are now being initiated, and the investigation is ongoing.
