According to Uzbekistan's National Statistics Committee, more than 310,000 foreign citizens visited the country for commercial purposes between January and August 2026. The vast majority of this flow originates from neighboring Afghanistan, with over 281,000 arrivals — roughly 90% of all such visits.

Turkmenistan ranks a distant second with more than 21,000 visitors. Tajikistan follows with nearly 6,000 commercial travelers. Other countries lag significantly behind.

Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan come next, but their numbers are far more modest — ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand. Russia and Turkey also appear in the statistics, yet their contribution is limited to hundreds of trips — 332 and 290 respectively. Just over a thousand businessmen arrived from other nations.

As previously reported, entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan will be able to conduct settlements through a new platform created jointly with Afghanistan's Ghazanfar Bank. Funds for goods will be transferred to the Uzbek seller after the cargo arrives at Hairatan, a border trade hub. This mechanism is expected to facilitate bilateral trade and reduce risks for both parties.
