A major new overpass located on the outskirts of Tashkent, near the Food City marketplace along the highway leading to the city of Nurafshan, has officially opened for traffic. While the infrastructure project is purported to alleviate regional congestion, the handling of its financial metrics has drawn scrutiny regarding budget transparency.

According to the official statement released by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the total cost of the construction project ultimately reached 280.8 billion soms. However, previous official reports presented in July during a high-level inspection by the state leadership stated that the project's price tag was only 240 billion soms, leaving a notable discrepancy that authorities have yet to fully clarify.

The comprehensive engineering undertaking encompassed several critical structural components, including a 66-meter-long and 46-meter-wide overpass, a 450-meter underground vehicular passage, and a 950-meter ring road. Additionally, planners integrated two designated U-turn points and four underground pedestrian crossings intended to facilitate safer movement across the busy intersection.

The ministry alleges that the inauguration of this complex will secure the uninterrupted transit of approximately 130,000 vehicles per day. Officials claim these modifications establish a safe and efficient transport infrastructure for roughly 150,000 residents, though long-term efficacy under actual commuter stress remains to be fully demonstrated.
