A new highway overpass valued at 280.8 billion soms has been officially put into operation on the route connecting Tashkent and Nurafshan. The project is presented by local authorities as a major step toward modernizing the regional transport network.
According to data released by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the construction works encompassed a 66-meter-long and 46-meter-wide overpass, alongside a 450-meter underground roadway. The complex further incorporates a 950-meter ring road, two vehicle turnaround platforms, and four underground pedestrian crossings to facilitate local movement.
Official statements claim that the completed infrastructure is engineered to handle an uninterrupted flow of nearly 130,000 vehicles daily. Authorities assert that these measures establish a safer and more convenient transit environment for roughly 150,000 local residents, despite ongoing concerns over rising traffic congestion and long-term maintenance costs.
Meanwhile, the leadership reportedly continues to push forward with large-scale capital investments. It was noted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev allegedly participated in a ceremony launching seven projects worth one billion dollars in the New Tashkent area, which include various engineering and road structures, while also initiating ten additional projects valued at 2.5 billion dollars.
