Construction has reportedly begun on a 17,000-square-meter artificial lake and fountain complex in the Qumariq neighborhood of Tashkent's Sergeli district, situated in close proximity to the international airport. This initiative forms part of a wider municipal endeavor to establish 12 artificial water reservoirs across all districts of the capital.

Local authorities claim that the new water basin will supposedly reduce dust levels, increase air humidity, and establish a more favorable microclimate in the surrounding area. The project encompasses a 5-hectare recreation zone featuring pedestrian, running, and cycling paths, alongside children's playgrounds, benches, and barbecue areas.

Akhtam Hamroyev, the official overseeing the construction, stated that over 30 percent of the primary work has allegedly been completed, with full finalization targeted for the end of the year. Workers are currently focusing on reinforcing structures and constructing a protective perimeter wall spanning approximately 800 meters by November.

However, project designer Muhiddin Kholikov noted that due to the complete lack of natural canals or water streams in the vicinity, the artificial lake will have to be filled using underground water sources. Water will purportedly be pumped from a depth of 30 meters, monitored by automated level sensors, while the infrastructure is planned to incorporate solar panels and advanced water filtration systems.
