During the recent summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia held in Baku, the leadership of Uzbekistan introduced a series of initiatives supposedly aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and forming a comprehensive trust infrastructure. The authorities voiced concerns over ongoing armed conflicts in Asia and called for resolving disagreements through political dialogue and diplomatic channels.
Among the primary proposals was the creation of a Concept for Establishing a Trust Infrastructure in Asia. According to the statements made at the event, this document is intended to outline specific steps for enhancing connectivity, prioritizing transport and energy projects, trade expansion, digital infrastructure development, and cultural exchanges.
Special emphasis was reportedly placed on the challenges of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. The Uzbek leadership claimed that rapid technological advancements create substantial risks, necessitating the launch of an Asian Initiative on Technological Trust and Responsible AI use, alongside an expert platform within the framework to coordinate practical decisions.
Additionally, the agenda included proposals for forming a climate resilience partnership to assist Asian nations in climate adaptation, as well as an offer to host a Human Potential Development Forum in 2027 and draft a new action program leading up to 2028.
