President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed new construction projects aimed at expanding educational infrastructure in Tashkent, amid growing public concern over public service capacities. Official reports indicate that the deficit of student places in the capital reached 141,000 for the 2025/2026 academic year, highlighting significant strain on the local education system.

Projections show that the number of school-age children in Tashkent is expected to surge by another 71,000—or 14 percent—over the next five years, potentially pushing the shortage to 212,000 by the 2030/2031 academic year. To mitigate this mounting pressure, authorities plan to introduce 126,000 new student seats by 2030, utilizing a mix of national and local budget allocations to upgrade architectural standards and energy efficiency.

The presentation also addressed persistent challenges within the preschool education sector. With approximately 253,000 children aged three to seven currently residing in the capital, kindergarten coverage stands at 79.2 percent, leaving an estimated 65,000 spots lacking. Officials aim to bridge this gap by establishing new facilities and incorporating modern safety and developmental solutions.
