️ Natural gas deliveries from Russia to Uzbekistan are proceeding strictly in line with contractual commitments, unaffected by an explosion and fire on a key pipeline segment in Russia's Penza region. Officials from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Economy and Finance confirmed the stability of imports during a media briefing held on October 14.

️ The briefing addressed public concerns regarding the October 13 rupture of a high-pressure line near the village of Volchkovo on the Petrovsk-Yelets transmission route. Operator Gazprom Transgaz Saratov swiftly isolated the affected corridor and rerouted flows through auxiliary lines, preventing any disruption to downstream recipients.

️ Khurshed Mustafayev, Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance overseeing the oil and gas sector, reassured that interstate agreements remain completely honored and gas continues to arrive on schedule. Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy equally verified that transit operations across Kazakh territory toward Uzbekistan are functioning at planned capacity, noting no operational deviations or modification requests from Russian authorities.

️ Uzbekistan initiated reverse-flow gas imports from Russia via Kazakhstan through the Central Asia–Center pipeline network in October 2023. As domestic gas extraction within Uzbekistan faces structural declines, reliance on regional imports has steadily expanded, with international projections estimating cross-border intake could exceed 10 billion cubic meters annually by 2026.
