Law enforcement officers detained a suspect red-handed while he was attempting to sell 1.2 kilograms of hashish at a hotel located in the Yakkasaray district of Tashkent. According to preliminary reports, the individual has a prior criminal record for similar offenses involving the illegal trade of large batches of narcotics.

The operation was carried out through the joint efforts of the Customs Committee, the State Security Service, and internal affairs agencies. Authorities reported that the man had negotiated the sale of three packages containing hashish and managed to collect a portion of the agreed payment before being apprehended by operatives.

Experts estimate that the confiscated narcotic substance would have been sufficient for approximately 8,600 individual doses. The seized hashish has been logged as material evidence, and a criminal case has been officially initiated, with ongoing investigative procedures to uncover further details. * This incident follows a recent interception in the Surkhandarya region, where border and customs officers prevented the smuggling of 52.6 kilograms of hashish and opium hidden beneath the floorboards of a truck trailer coming from abroad.

Official statistics indicate that since the beginning of 2026, customs authorities, in cooperation with other security agencies, have intercepted 844 cases of illegal drug and psychotropic substance trafficking, resulting in the seizure of more than 2.2 tons of prohibited substances.
