Authorities have initiated the construction of a new facility for the Alisher Navoi State Museum of Literature in the New Tashkent area. While construction is underway, the museum's cultural artifacts and historical holdings are reportedly being temporarily transferred to two separate institutions.

Meanwhile, the historical building on Navoi Street, which has housed the museum for decades, has been reassigned to the State Youth Theatre and is currently undergoing renovation. This transition sparked discussion and speculative reports across social media channels regarding the potential risks to the protected architectural landmark. N

According to the Cultural Heritage Agency, the property located at 69 Alisher Navoi Street in the Shaykhontohur district is officially designated on the national registry of cultural heritage sites and remains under state protection. The transfer of operational management rights to the theatre was purportedly approved via a governmental decree.

Officials maintain that changing the designated user does not strip the property of its heritage status. Under local legislation, the new occupant is allegedly bound by strict legal obligations to preserve the exterior and interior features in accordance with the asset's official passport guidelines.
