President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted a high-level Chinese delegation led by Premier of the State Council Li Qiang on October 17. The meeting focused on consolidating the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations and identifying new avenues for high-level economic and technological engagement.
According to the official press service, the discussions spanned key strategic domains, including peaceful nuclear energy, green transition, automotive manufacturing, chemical processing, geology, and infrastructure modernization. Particular emphasis was placed on high-tech integration, such as artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced machinery production, and digital systems, which form the cornerstone of China's industrial collaboration with Uzbekistan.
The leaders reviewed progress on the landmark China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project, underscoring that its completion will fundamentally reshape regional transport corridors and expand transit capabilities. To complement trade ties, both sides also agreed on the necessity of increasing direct commercial flights to facilitate broader cultural exchanges, business travel, and tourism.
The focus on peaceful atom initiatives aligns with Uzbekistan's ambitious nuclear roadmap. Just a day prior, President Mirziyoyev announced plans to negotiate the construction of second and third nuclear power plants with new international partners. Notably, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had recently indicated, citing direct talks with Mirziyoyev, that Uzbekistan intended to partner with Chinese authorities for its second planned nuclear power plant.
