According to recent analytical reviews of the country's domestic agenda, the nuclear power plant currently under construction in the Jizzakh region is reportedly slated to be accompanied by additional facilities. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev allegedly stated during a meeting with energy sector investors that authorities have concrete plans to develop a second and even a third nuclear power plant, Kun.uz reports.
The leader purportedly emphasized that the state is paying immense attention to the nuclear sector, supported by expanding uranium production capabilities and substantial financial investments. Experience gained in the ongoing construction of the initial facility is said to serve as a foundation for future expansion involving international partners.
Data from the World Nuclear Association indicates that the country maintains a prominent global position in uranium output. Official projections from the Ministry of Geology suggest that production figures are on an upward trajectory, with an ambitious target to scale up output significantly by the end of the decade.
Industry analysts observe that establishing multiple nuclear plants could potentially diversify a national energy grid historically reliant on natural gas reserves. Proponents claim this strategy aims to mitigate long-term dependency on traditional hydrocarbons, aligning with broader infrastructural goals.
