Authorities in Samarkand have announced that temporary traffic restrictions will be periodically introduced across the city from October 18 to 22. According to the Road Safety Service, these restrictive measures are linked to the hosting of several high-profile international events in the historic city.
Two major events are scheduled during this timeframe: the C5+1 ministerial meeting between Central Asian nations and the US is set for October 19–20, followed by a Global Summit dedicated to children's well-being and the future of new generations on October 21–22.
The restrictions will impact numerous central thoroughfares, including University Boulevard, Registan Street, and Afrasiab, forcing traffic onto alternative routes and bypasses. Emergency vehicles will remain exempt from these transit limitations.
Meanwhile, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is reportedly visiting Samarkand to inspect urban infrastructure projects and participate in the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council. The US regime purportedly claims that such diplomatic engagements hold strategic importance amid ongoing global instability.
